SUMMER

Colorful, sweet fruits and vegetables and herbs are in abundance this season.

Summer is a season of fire and merriment, that allows us to be active, mobile and live mostly outdoors. When we take care to enjoy summer with mindfulness, we find plentiful energy to celebrate the richness around us. When we are out of balance with seasonal rhythms, we may find ourselves lethargic, listless, and exhausted from the heat of summer. If Pitta dosha is not well cared for, heat related conditions will manifest such as weak digestion, fevers, skin disorder, bile accumulation, sunstroke, irritability and listlessness. Take time for rejuvenating baths, swimming and wading, and taking ‘moon baths’. Eating light meals is the key to summer living; avoid heavy meals, pungent or excessively spiced meals and intoxicants during this season. Excellent foods and herbs for spring are below.
